More holiday snaps

16/11/2014

So far I've shown you a handful of photos from my recent trip to Canberra, but I haven't even got to the Canberra photos yet. Probably because I took 250 photos before I even got there. Like the 50 shots I took at the playground in Chiltern. I'm sure you don't want to see the selfies I took on the teacups... I swear, I am actually 31 years old... ;)

So...first stop in Canberra was the Australian War Memorial.
Picture
The most stunning part of the Memorial, in my opinion, was the Hall of Memory and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The ceiling would rival the Sistine Chapel but my photos really didn't do it justice. (A fisheye lens would have been awesome.)
Picture
The walls in the Hall are mosaic, all laid by hand. It is incredibly intricate and very beautiful. Each aspect of the design has a symbolic meaning and you could spend a week there discovering all the details.
Picture
The Roll of Honour is startling, just by its sheer size. It is impossible to comprehend the extent of the tragedy of war.

Look at that sky...so delicious I could eat it with a spoon! It was this perfect shade of blue the whole week I was in Canberra and I couldn't stop taking photos of it.

I still haven't gotten to the prettiest part of my trip (Mt Ainslie), so there's more pictures to come soon.
