how to ... get clear skin before your photo shoot

Now, I do not have the clearest skin around, and it is a constant source of frustration for me. Every time I look at a photograph of myself, the first thing I see is my imperfect skin. Here's a few tips to clear it up that will hopefully work for you as well as me...
  • Drink plenty of water
You don't necessarily need eight glasses a day, it depends on your size and activity level. And how big is a glass anyway? They never tell you that part. Just drink a lot of water, okay? If you're thirsty, drink more. If you feel like you're going to float away, drink less. Makes sense to me!
  • Stop touching your face!
I know you just touched it right now. Stop it! I'm a bit of a germaphobe, so I am constantly thinking about the germs all over computers / phones / desks / public toilets / door knobs / don't get me started. And you want to go touching your face after all that? No wonder your pores are full of junk. Just stop it! It's the best thing you'll do for your skin, trust me.
  • Don't try a new beauty regime, skin cleanser, moisturiser or anything else the night before, or even a week before your session. If you're going to use a mask, give it at least a week before your session. Those things bring all the muck stuck down deep in your pores up to the surface, and it's very likely to cause a breakout.
  • Get plenty of sleep. You don't need to add dark circles to those blemishes.
  • Stay out of the sun. A slight tan is nice but a red nose is not, and strap marks on your shoulders or thong marks on your feet are not attractive, not to mention totally bad for you!
  • Give up the make-up, except for special occasions. It clogs your pores and you don't need it, you're prettier without it.,

If all else fails, post-processing can remove any bothersome blemishes. But think about how nice it would be to have photo-ready skin every day of the year...no Photoshop required!
