If you've been following me for awhile you may have seen my post about this shoot on my old blog (I'd love to show you where that is, but honestly I can't even remember and you don't really want to see it, this one is much prettier).
This couple were both serving in the Royal Australian Navy at the time of their shoot. From the moment I knew I would be shooting them I had this shot in my mind, and I was unbelievably impressed with myself when it turned out exactly as I'd hoped. That's when I knew. I could do this. This photography business thing. I thought of an idea and then I made it happen. I'd like to tell you that from that moment everything fell into place, but of course that's not the case. That's another story, but that's why this is my favourite shoot.
I still have vivid memories of laying stretched out on my stomach on the old wooden pier on this gorgeous warm February day, tourists stepping over me, giving me strange looks. I didn't care, I had a camera in my hand and everything was right with the world.
The ship in the background is the HMAS Castlemaine, which has been at Gem Pier in Williamstown for as long as I can remember (judging by Wikipedia, I think it's probably been there since before I was born).
